Many codec, which succeed in competitions such as Topcoder SRM, or Google Codejam etc, get good jobs and salaries . But is it really Necessor? I mean, should all code developers know different algorithms, structures, or all competitions, just a waste of time? The problem is that those competitions take a lot of time - training, study, to participate. I am a student, so I do not have much free time. So I should make a decision: or I do this (if it is useful to me in future, I give it to the collegues), or I forget about it and do some more studies. any idea?
I think you think that you want to think about what you want from your career What is needed to get there, and then after doing so, you have proof that successful results in these competitions result in good employment / salaries in one area, I think your answer is.
