I want to test my Android app on the phone. I do not have an Android phone so I wanted to buy one question, I can get a call on eBay without contract, will it work to test my app? Or should it be an open or rooted phone? Can I install and test my app on a phone which is not unlocked and does not make any contract?
Normally you can develop applications on an Android device for the average user (but Android But not hack).
But can there be some difficulty in being able to do anything on a user account without putting a (compatible?) SIM in it?
A small web search is showing two possible solutions - the route that is required, is to manually change the settings database and thus leave the account setup.
Another ADB command to go around any SIM message and enable the WiFi to set up the settings and to set up the account in a similar way. It does not seem that its root should be required.
You want to manage a user account to set a pre-condition to complete the sale, or a provider can buy phone lock in the prepaid market. Sims for international visitors
My guess is that if you get an initial HTC phone G1 or Matches or (or Google Edition ADP 1, Ion etc.) you will be able to work on it - if it comes for it, Root Mitigation is not difficult, and it will be the cheapest because they are old out of time after the device and other manufacturers, do not know. Of course, if you want to target Android 2.2, then you will need a device later.
